Fossil Word
An exceptionally large harvest is a bumper crop. The word bumper, with this meaning, is never used outside of ‘bumper crop’. A car can have a bumper, but that's a very different meaning. So this meaning of the word, at least, is fossilized and only describes a rich supply of crops, or metaphorically business or artistic output.
