even money

Featured

Every day one two-word expression or compound word used in American English.

The phrase ‘even money’ comes from gambling where one has an equal chance of winning or losing. An even money bet means there is no advantage to either side of the bet. Typically gambling at a casino is never an even money bet, there is always an advantage to the house.
