gun barrel

Featured
Puzzle #36 · July 7, 2025
The gun barrel is the long metal tube of a firearm that directs the bullet when fired. But it's also the iconic opening shot of every James Bond film. Starting with Dr. No in 1962, the gun barrel sequence shows Bond walking across the screen before turning and firing directly at the camera, followed by a red blood wash. It was created by Maurice Binder, who used a pinhole camera to solve the technical problem of keeping the entire barrel in focus. The sequence has become so synonymous with Bond that it's been recreated in almost every film since.
