international organization

An international organization is a formal group created by governments or other entities that spans multiple countries and works on shared issues. The United Nations is the most famous, but there are hundreds of others focused on specific areas like health (World Health Organization), trade (World Trade Organization), or labor rights (International Labour Organization). Non-governmental organizations would include multi-national corporations or industry associations. These groups set standards, coordinate action, provide a forum for discussion, and sometimes enforce agreements.
