pit stop

Featured
Puzzle #135 · October 14, 2025
The term ‘pit stop’ originates from the literal pit area in automobile racing.

The pit is where mechanics service a car. In modern Formula 1 racing, a car gets new tires and refuels in a little as two seconds.

Over time, the term ‘pit stop’ has evolved to mean any short, necessary stop during a trip for things like getting gas or using the restroom.
