Puzzle #243 · January 30, 2026
Canada Dry is a popular beverage brand, founded in Canada in 1904, best known for its crisp, carbonated ginger ale.

Pharmacist John J. McLaughlin, created the lighter, less-sweet “Pale Dry” ginger ale in 1904, and it became known as the “champagne of ginger ales”. Canada Dry Ginger Ale was also a popular mixer during Prohibition to disguise bathtub gin.

Its iconic crown-and-shield logo emerged after royal appointment, and the brand expanded globally, surviving ownership changes to become a household name known for its distinct ginger flavor and other mixers like tonic water.
