The Hebrew Bible is the collection of sacred texts central to Judaism, also called the Tanakh. It's divided into three sections: the Torah (five books of Moses), the Prophets, and the Writings. Christians call the same texts the Old Testament, though they arrange the books differently. Written originally in Hebrew between 1200 and 100 BCE, the Hebrew Bible contains law, history, poetry, prophecy, and wisdom literature.
Jews and Christians treat it as divinely inspired, though they interpret its meaning differently.
