supply chain

Featured

Every day one two-word expression or compound word used in American English.

A supply chain is the network of people and processes involved in creating and delivering a product, from raw material to consumer. It's the often-invisible pathway behind every object you own. A smartphone's supply chain spans dozens of countries: chips from Taiwan, rare earths from China, assembly in Vietnam, distribution globally.

Supply chains were largely invisible until disruptions made them newsworthy—COVID shutdowns, port congestions, trade wars. Modern supply chains are marvels of logistics, but they're also fragile. The longer and more complex the chain, the more vulnerable it is to breaking.
